Don Edison Byrd, 72, of Rhodes Road, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at his home, following a serious illness of two months.
A graveside service will be 12 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at Macedonia United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Randy Blanton officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
Mr. Byrd was born October 13, 1939, in Guilford County, to John Edgar Byrd and Zola Lee Barnette Byrd. He was a 1957 graduate of High Point Senior High School and retired machinist from Anco. He loved to fish and relax on Sunday afternoons watching Nascar.
Surviving are his loving wife, Violet Shirley Byrd of the home; son, Mark Byrd and wife, Minneé, of Lexington; daughters, Sandy Hedrick and husband, Joe Don, of Lexington, and Amber Almond and husband, Keith, of Albemarle; grandchildren, Carmen Hedrick, Matt Byrd, Sarah Almond, and Chase Almond; great-grandson, Roper; and sister, Judy Hucks and husband, Bobby, of High Point.
