Don Grubb

Donald “Don” Reid Grubb, 86, of Welcome passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Grayson Creek Assisted Living.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Center United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mitch Wilson officiating. A private burial will be held at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm prior to the service at the Church.

Mr. Grubb was born in Davidson County on November 1, 1932 to Nay “Buss” Edwin Grubb and Rachel Vanhoy Grubb. He was a graduate of Welcome High School as well as Lenoir Ryne where he played football. Mr. Grubb was a retired volunteer for the Welcome Fire Department and was a member of the Welcome Lions Club and Center United Methodist Church. He was a school teacher at Reeds Elementary School and was a supervisor for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for thirty three years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley McClure Grubb; and his brother, Darrell Lee Grubb.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, E. Brian Grubb (Ginger) of Welcome; his daughter, Joy Grubb Jones of Welcome; three granddaughters, Kelli Tesh (Steven), Kerri Barker (Eric) and Melody Gutierrez; and four great-grandchildren, Corbin Reid Tesh, Charlotte Tesh, Heidi Barker and Rileigh Barker.

The family is grateful for the end-of-life care provided by Grayson Creek Assisted Living and Mrs. Traci.
