James Donald Parsons, 77, of Knollwood Avenue, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center after declining health for two years.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Mark Rachels officiating. Burial will follow in Becks Reformed Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Parsons was born September 13, 1936, in Davidson County, to Claude Parsons and Mary Johnson Parsons Metters. He had worked for Smith Mill Works 53 years prior to retirement. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are his loving wife, Darlene Leonard Parsons of the home; sons, Donnie Parsons and wife Debbie, Jeff Parsons and wife Stephanie, all of Lexington; daughter, Teresa Parsons Conrad and friend Sam Hilton of Lexington; stepdaughters, Beverly Swing Young and husband Todd and Beth Swing Harris and husband Danny, all of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Matthew Parsons and wife Monica, Erin Parsons Burkhart and husband Kristopher, Brandi C. Lomax and husband Randall, Kasey Parsons, Chelsea Shore and friend Matthew Hedrick, Brittany Shore and Anna Shore; step-grandchildren, Laura Young Adams and husband, Chad, Jacob Loman and wife Cassie, Christena Hearne and husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Challon, Kodi, and Khloe; step-great-grandchildren, Hayden, Haylee, and Ava; and brother, Danny Benson of Lexington.
