Donald Younts Beck, 90, Park St., Lexington, died Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Lexington Health Care after a brief illness.
Mr. Beck was born November 5, 1915 in Davidson County to Earl Beck and Myrtle Younts Beck. He was associated with Cunningham Brick Co. for more than 40 years, and retired as President. He was a graduate of Davis Townsend School; the last surviving charter member of the Lexington Civitan Club, and served on the Finance Committee of his church. He had served on the Thomasville Board of Directors of NCNB, now Bank of America. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Miller Beck, a daughter, Nancy Beck Johnson and 2 sisters, Edna Carpenter and Alma Honeycutt.
He is survived by a daughter, Anne Bevan and husband Roy of Lexington; a son in law, James Edwin Johnson, Jr. of Charlotte; his grandchildren: Anne Bolt and husband Gary, Jane White and husband Dunlop III, Jim Johnson and wife Suzanne, and Elizabeth Strillacci and husband Jim; six great grandchildren; and his sisters, Mary Rogers of Winston-Salem and Virginia Johnson of California.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2006 at First Reformed United Church of Christ where he was a member, by Rev. Mike Hooper. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday at
First Reformed United Church of Christ Parlor and other times at the home.
