Donald Virgil Benoy, 93, of Lexington Health Care, formerly of Second Rainbow, died Monday, August 8, 2016, at the nursing center. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 12, at Davidson Funeral Home with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by Davidson County Honor Guard will follow at Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Benoy was born February 25, 1923, in Richmond County, to Lawrence Benoy and Rebecca Jane Smith Benoy. He served in the U.S. Army Civilian Conservation Corp; was a member of VFW Post 3074, Amvets Post 13, American Legion Post 8 and enjoyed restoring clocks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Snyder Benoy who died July 28, 2008; son, Gary Allen Benoy; daughter, Rebecca Kaye DeTar; brothers, Sam Benoy, Blease Benoy and his twin brother, Vaud Benoy and sister, Gladys Privette. Surviving are daughters, Hilda Everhart and friend Mark Kearns of Lexington, Sherri Lyon and husband Martin of Tyro; grandchildren, Tina Marble and husband Greg, Brandi Hamblin and husband Justin and Gregory Lyon and Brianne; great-grandchildren, Valerie, Garrit, and Coulson.
