Donald Eugene Claar

Donald Eugene Claar, 69, of S. NC Highway 150, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at UNC Hospital.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Higher Ground Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Greene and Darrell Clapper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Friday, April 7, from 6 to 8 p.m.  Mr. Claar was born April 19, 1947, in Blair County, PA, to Clarence Claar and Marjorie Clapper Claar. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was retired from Norfolk Southern where he had been a car inspector.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Claar.  Surviving are his loving wife Cynthia Lee Clapper Claar of the home; daughters, Kathy Kensinger (Brian) of Roaring Spring, PA, Stacey Smith (William) of Manns Choice, PA, Sherry Ross (David) of Williamsburg, PA, and Amanda Claar of Lexington; six grandchildren, Alexa, Aliyah, Connor, Jeremiah, Tanner, and Mariah; and sister, Genevieve Reighard (Charles) of Roaring Spring, PA.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Higher Ground Baptist Church, 1351 Lamb Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
