Donald Carroll Coram, age 77 of South Main Street, Winston Salem passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at his home.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in the Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with Rev. Dr. Beverly Hatcher and Pastor Mitchell See officiating. Burial will follow Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday night.
Donald was born in Forsyth County July 6, 1938 to Johnny Dozier Coram and Lola Alma Whitaker Coram. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and Pinedale Christian Church and was a graduate of Mineral Springs School. He was retired from AT&T with 32 years of service and served on the fire brigade. He was owner/operator of Coram Performance Vans and Accessories, Inc. that he started in 1981; he was a former Lieutenant with Griffith Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed boating and camping and was a great water skier. He received great pleasure in gathering with all the folks at the Round Table at Cagney’s Country Kitchen in Midway.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Wilma Hill Coram of the home; daughters, Donna Coram (Jeffrey Hall) of Pfafftown, Lisa Long (Kelly) of Arcadia, Debra Troxell (Michael) of Midway and Sherri Swain (David, Jr.) of Davie County; grandchildren, Christopher Long, Tristan Long, Zachary Hall, Adam Hall, Anna Troxell and Sarah Troxell; sister-in-law, Linda Hill; cousins, Denny Whitaker (Brenda) Sammie Leake and Delores Ward (Al) and many friends especially his long-time friend, Ray Davis; his special pets Snickers and Fluffy.
