Donald "Don" Wade Kimrey

Donald “Don” Wade Kimrey, 83, of Lexington went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 26, 2017.   The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.   Don was born in Lexington on December 19, 1933, to Allie Wade Kimrey and Annie Delilah Lanier Kimrey, who preceded him in death. After graduating Lexington Senior High School, Don attended college at Oak Ridge Military Academy. He then went on to work for Piedmont Airlines where he eventually retired in 1989. Don never forgot the many friends he made at Piedmont throughout his life. He was a wheeler–and–dealer who attended the flea market as often as possible.   Don is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Winona Swaim Kimrey; son, Robert Wade Kimrey; sister, Patricia Lynn Kimrey Leonard; nieces, Cecilia Leonard (Brian), Genevieve Ireland (Chad); and great-nieces and nephews, Zachary Purdue, Brooke Ireland, Carissa Ireland, and Caden Ireland. Don also leaves behind his longtime friend, Butch Leonard; and a special caretaker, Vicky Terry.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
