Donald Eugene “Duck” Hudson, 72, of Crown City, OH, died Wednesday January 15, 2014, at the home of his son surrounded by family.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Revs. Terry Wingate and Danny Sneed officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014, at the funeral home and other times at the home of Scott Hudson on Fleabo Road.
Mr. Hudson was born October 5, 1941, in Cabell County, W.Va., to John Harmon Hudson and Ella Chapman Hudson. Ducky lived his life to the fullest and did it all his way. He was a drag racer, fisherman, hunter, innovator and dedicated Charlotte 49ers baseball fan. He worked and traveled for Owens Illinois for over 50 years. His work took him all around the world and he loved to tell stories about his adventures. The last summer of his life he spent following his Charlotte 49ers. He loved his farm and worked everyday to ensure his children and grandchildren had everything they ever wanted and more than they ever needed. In addition to his father who died in 1991, his mother preceded him in death on Tuesday, January 14, 2014; Carolyn Sue Kilgore Hudson, the mother of his children; and his wife, Irajean Weir Hudson.
Surviving are sons, Johnny Hudson and wife Robin of Churchland and Scott Hudson and wife Debbie of Lexington; daughters, Kellyn Hudson Berrier and Karyn Hudson Burkhart and husband Michael, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Ashley Hudson, Jordan Hudson, Zach Hudson, Bekah Hudson, Ella Berrier, Alec Burkhart, and Bryce Burkhart; brothers, Roger Hudson and wife Pim of South Carolina and Dale Hudson and wife Debbie of Lexington; and sisters, Judy Cremeans and husband Darrell of Ohio and Gayle Vernatt and husband Tommy of Michigan.
