Donald "Gene" Eugene Grubbs 76 passed away Wednesday morning, July 27, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
A graveside service with full military rites will be held at 11:00 AM Friday July 29, 2011 at Oak Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Oliver Helsabeck officiating. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM on Sunday August 7, 2011 at Oak Forest United Methodist Church with Rev. Darren Alexander officiating.
There will be no formal visitation.
Gene was born July 20, 1935 in Forsyth County to the late Willie Gray Grubbs and Vera Lawson Grubbs. He retired with Grubbs TV & Sound Service a member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church and served two terms in the United States Army National Guard Reserve. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carole Brobst Grubbs who passed away March 1, 2011, his brother; Harold “ Pete” Grubbs, his sister; Toby & Dr. Weldon Joyce, his brother in-law; John Segraves.
Surviving are his oldest sister, Edith Segraves; daughters; Becky Everhart, Wendy Cundiff (Miles) of Winston Salem and Dr. Winnifred Daisley of Spokane, Washington, grandchildren; Roxann Everhart Moore, Zachary Shirley, Josh Everhart, Dylan Cundiff and Krista Causey, great- grandchildren; Tay Tay Moore, Pierson Shaw and MaKayla VanMeter and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to National Parkinson Foundation Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
