Don Gibby

Donald "Don" Thomas Gibby, 74, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Church with Rev. Sandy Young and Joe Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Gibby was born on April 12, 1952, in Bryson City, North Carolina, to the late Vaughn Everett Gibby and Joanna Thomas Gibby. He was a longtime mechanic and later drove a bus for Davidson County Schools. Don was also an avid UNC Tarheel fan.

Don was a simple man who loved his family well. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with those he loved most. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Gibby.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Tammy Owens Gibby; three sons, Bradley Gibby, Matthew Gibby, and Jason Gibby; and two granddaughters, Abby Gibby and Nicole Gibby.
