Donald “Bo” Ray Hughes, Sr., a resident of Lexington, passed away, Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at his residence. Bo was born in Davidson County on July 21, 1953 to the late Harvey Lee and Eva Hopkins Hughes. He was a Jack of all trades who could fix anything, whether he had the right parts or not. As an avid fisherman, he enjoyed competing in Carp Tournaments and just being on the water. Bo was a selfless person who tried to help anyone in need. He will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Nelson Hughes; a son, Timothy Scott Nelson; brothers, Joe, Leslie, and Harold Hughes; and a sister, Donna “Sissie” Freeman.

A celebration of life will be held at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 6-8PM.

Left to cherish Bo’s memory are his children, Donald Hughes, Jr. (Stacey) of Lexington; Jason Hughes (Amanda) of Lexington; Melissa Hughes Burns (Chris) of Lexington, and Meagan Hughes and Fiancé, Seth of the home; sisters, Mary Hughes of Thomasville, Doris Pullum of Lexington, Janice Lanier of Lexington, Lynn Shaw (Keith) of Tyro, and Jean Everhart (Bobby) of Asheboro; a brother-in-law, Jerry Freeman of Lexington; grandchildren, Seth Hughes, Jake, Bevin, Reagan, Skylar, and Aaron Burns, Kyleigh Scott, Dylan and Dakota Snider, Hayley Clonch (Kelsey), and Gracie, Hunter, and Lexi Nelson; and great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Rabren.
