Donald James Myers

Donald James Myers, 71, of Davis Drive, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Reeds Baptist Church, where he was a member, with his grandson, the Rev. Mark Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to the service and other times at the home. Mr. Myers was born July 20, 1942, in Davidson County, to Clayton Myers and Olga Beck Myers. He was retired from Ingersoll Rand where he had worked as an engineer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Myers and Darrell Myers; and sisters, Frances Parmley and Vera Norton. Surviving are his loving wife, Sylvia Swicegood Myers of the home; daughters, Donna Murphy and husband Todd, Amy Lutz and husband David, and Sherri Bost, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Jeremy and Sierra Tester, Luke, Mark and Beth Murphy, Katie, Alison and Madelyn Bost; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Janessa, Jacob, Kayleigh and Braeden; brother, John “Billy” Myers; and sisters, Gail Beck and Brenda Sowers, both of Lexington. The family requests that memorials be made to Reeds Baptist Church, 180 Reeds Baptist Church Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
