Donald William Jones

Donald “Donnie” William Jones, age 63, of Raeford Avenue, Lexington, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Lexington Memorial Hospital.  God’s protective hands reached down to take him home.    Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday (December 23, 2009) at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Lindquist and Dr. Robert Long officiating.  Burial will follow in Waughtown Cemetery in Winston Salem.   Donnie was born in Toccoa Falls, Georgia on November 8, 1946 to Rev. Archie William Jones and Irene Hastings Jones.  He attended First United Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Jonathan Everhart.   He is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Jones Wooten and husband Lorien of Clemmons and Phyllis Jones Smith and husband Scott of Lexington; one brother, Forrest Jones and wife Debbie of Welcome; five nephews, two nieces, two great nephews and six great nieces..   The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday night at Davidson funeral Home in Lexington and at other times at the home of his sister Phyllis Smith, Lumina Drive, Lexington.   The family would like to thank all of the people who befriended Donnie during his lifetime.     Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
