Donald Venard Kepley

Donald Venard Kepley, 92, of Lexington passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Olde Knox Commons in Huntersville, NC.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, June 22, in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Coltrane officiating and will be streamed live at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome Burial will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 23rd at Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Kepley was born February 23, 1929, in Davidson County to Grady Lee Kepley and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Lopp Kepley. He attended New Jerusalem Reformed Church and was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Farner; a brother, Olin Kepley; and a sister, Bessie Mae Garner. After retiring from the Air Force he spent his time farming and managing his rental properties.  He was a mason with the Lexington Memorial Lodge #473.  But the joy of his life was spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Cecilia (Sheila) Ortiz Kepley of the home; one son, Don Kepley (Alexandra) of Huntersville; a daughter, Pam Kepley of Colorado; two sisters, Lois Murphy of Thomasville, and Elizabeth Shropshire of Emerald Isle; and five grandchildren, Brian Wagner, Jordan Hubchik, Elizabeth Sterling, Harrison Kepley, Hannah Bell; 3 step-grandchildren, Emily Farner, Alison Swanigan, Andy Farner; two great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren.
