Donald Wayne King, Jr. (“Don”) passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Born on July 13, 1943, in Oswego, New York, Don was the son of the late Donald Wayne King, Sr., and Dorothy Baggs. He carried with him a deep appreciation for family, community, and simple joys throughout his life.
Don was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who truly cherished every moment spent with his family. At the center of his life was his remarkable 60-year marriage, a true love story built on loyalty, partnership, and unwavering commitment. He was a dutiful and loving husband to his wife, Sandy, always by her side, including helping her set up and take down at craft shows. Whether gathered for holidays, cheering on a game, or simply enjoying quiet time together, he found his greatest joy in being surrounded by those he loved. He especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports and take part in their many activities.
He was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres, and rarely missed a chance to root for his teams.
Don was a past Master of Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 105 and served his country honorably in the United States Army Reserves. He was also active in his church for most of his life, a reflection of his steady faith and commitment to his community. In his free time, he had a true passion for woodworking, taking pride in creating things with his hands and sharing them with others. He also enjoyed playing bridge, golf, bowling, and softball.
Don is preceded in death by his father, Donald Wayne King, Sr., and his mother, Dorothy Baggs King.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Sandra Kay Johnson King; his daughters, Kim Mullane (Thomas) and Kirsten Waite (John); and his five cherished grandchildren, Molly, Jack, Julia, Adam, and Anna.
Funeral services for Don will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
