Donald Lane Palmer

Donald Lane Palmer, age 75, passed away on July 20th, at Atrium Health High Point Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Don was born on October 12, 1948 in Lexington, NC to Cletus Palmer and Clatie Potts Palmer. Don attended Wingate University before joining the military, proudly serving his country from 1969-1973 in the United States Air Force. Don retired from PPG Industries after 30 years of service. He served his community, with his beloved wife, Pat, by serving Meals on Wheels, continuing that service during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Don was a member of Memorial Evangelical and Reformed Church in Lexington, NC.
Don was full of life and never knew a stranger. He loved his time on the lake, fishing and boating with family and friends. He was an avid golfer, playing weekly games with his buddies. Don also loved spending time at the beach and fishing with his family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rodney Palmer. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Hedrick Palmer; sister-in-law, Sedena Palmer; sons, Wes Palmer (Marisvel) and Jeff Palmer (Grace); step-son, Jeff Jones (Patricia); step-daughter, Daria Westervelt (Mark); grandchildren, Vivian Palmer, Philip Jones, Haley Westervelt Mabry (Hayes), Aaron Byerly, Jackson Westervelt, and Cassidy Jones; nieces, Ashley Cotter (Brian), Michelle Brazee-Custer (Jay), Wendy Lester (Danny); and nephew, Roddy Palmer (Tammy).

A Celebration of Life service will be held, in Don’s memory, August 17th at 2:00pm at Memorial Evangelical and Reformed Church, 3810 Old US Hwy 64 East, Lexington, NC. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
