Donald Ralph "Don" Shaw

Donald Ralph Shaw, 65, of Foxcroft Drive, died Monday, September 14, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center following a critical illness of one week. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frankie Matthews and Rev. Ken Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Shaw was born April 7, 1944, in Davidson County to Ralph Withers Shaw and Maureen Shoaf Shaw. He was a graduate of Piedmont Bible College, retired from PPG after 28 years of service. He was a member of Heaven Gate Full Gospel Church and Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother. Surviving are his wife, Linda Gail Welch Shaw of the home; son, Donald Ralph Shaw Jr. of Lexington; daughter, Jennifer Shaw Garwood and husband, Michael, of Lexington; grandchildren, Anthony Garwood and wife, Ashley and Emily Garwood; his father and stepmother, Eva Koontz Shaw, of Lexington; brothers, Richard Shaw and wife, Joann, of Saint Michaels, Md., and David Shaw of Linwood; and sister, Margie Shaw and husband, Fred, of Florence, S.C. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
