Donald Gene Sidden, 65, of Old Mill Farm Road, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center following two years of declining health.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Pinedale Christian Church, where he was a member, with Ministers Matthew Sink and Danny Spainhour officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be 1 P.M. Friday, May 2, 2014, at National Cemetery, Salisbury.
Mr. Sidden was born October 11, 1948, in Davidson County, to William Roy Sidden and Georgia Noble Shoaf. He was a graduate of North Davidson High School and served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Owens Illinois after more than 30 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by grandson, J.W. Sidden.
Surviving are his son, Tim Sidden and wife Debbie of Lexington; daughter, Amanda Parris and husband Michael of Lexington; grandchildren, Rocky Sidden and significant other Ally Berrier, and Luke Parris; a great-grandchild, Skylar Sidden; aunts, uncles and cousins, including a very special cousin, Tonie Sink of Lexington; and his church family and many friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Thomas and the staff of Derrick Davis Cancer Center and the staff at Forsyth Medical Center for all their compassionate care.
