Donna Handy Gillespie

Donna Handy Gillespie, 70, of Lexington, passed away October 7, 2022, at Thomasville Medical Center in Thomasville.

A celebration of her life will be held private at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:30 until 2:30 pm at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.

Mrs. Gillespie was born December 3, 1951, in Davidson County, to Tommy George Handy and Vergie Walser Handy. Donna loved being around children, having had her own daycare, loved animals, traveling, fishing, going to yard sales and auctions.  She also loved drag racing at Farmington Dragway, but her passion was her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who will be missed by all.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 44 years, Meldon Wayne Gillespie of the home; her daughter, Yolanda Gillespie Shaw of Lexington; her sister, Linda Handy Leonard (husband Lindsey) of Lexington; her grandchildren, Amber Shaw (wife Jamie), Aaron Shaw (wife Sara), great-grandchildren, Hazel Faye, Nevaeh, Skye, Kadyn, Grayson, Brayden, and Xandria, and her beloved dog Riley.
