Donnie Mack Black

Donnie Mack Black, 78, of Arcadia Lane, died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 19 at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, where he was a member, by Rev. Jeff Walser. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Black was born October 13, 1930 in Florence County, SC to Walter C. Black and Molly Vines Black. He was a supervisor for many years at Dixie Furniture and later retired from Stanley Furniture. His wife, Annie Lee Fritts Black, preceded him in death, as well as his parents. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Black, and wife, Denise of Welcome, and Donnie Black, Jr. of Southmont; his daughters, Diane Gallimore, and husband, Kenneth, of Thomasville, and Betty Shaw, and husband, Jeff, of Lexington; two step-daughters, Carolyn Baker, of Florida, and Linda Stanley of South Carolina; his brother, Hubert Black and wife, Lois; seven grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Betty Shaw, 298 Florence Street, Lexington (336) 596-6080.
