Donnie Floyd

Donnie Reid Floyd, 69, of Hedrick Mill Road, died Saturday, August 4 at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 8 at Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ by the Rev. William Sowers.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of his mother in law on New Bowers Road.

Mr. Floyd was born October 2, 1948 in Davidson County to Harlan Clifton Floyd Sr. and Bessie Rudd Floyd. Along with his wife Vonetta, he owned and operated Von’s Kids Day Care and had also been employed with Henry Link, Inc and Dixie Furniture.  He was a member of Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ.  He was a an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.  His greatest passion was for his grandchildren.  His brother in law, Buddy Young, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Vonetta Young Floyd of the home; his sons, Marty Floyd and wife, Audrey, and Shane Floyd and wife, Michelle, both of Lexington; his brother, Harlan Clifton Floyd, Jr and wife, Patricia, of Lexington; his sister, Barbara Young, of Lexington; his mother in law, Reva Young of Lexington; and his grandchildren, Zachary Floyd, Dillon Floyd, Jessica Floyd and Austin Floyd.
