Dora Alice Koontz Beck

Dora Alice Koontz Beck, age 95, of Alston Brook, formerly of West Center Street Ext. passed away Friday night March 2, 2012 at Hinkle Hospice House.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 5, 2012 at Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Dave Ambroso and Rev. Jimmy Norred.  Burial will follow at Paul’s Chapel UCC Cemetery.   The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday and at other times at the home of daughter, Marilynn Young, 3155 West Center Street, Ext. Lexington.   Mrs. Beck was born in Davidson County, March 13, 1916 to Albert Koontz and Alice Farabee Koontz.  She was a homemaker and a Charter Member of Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ and the Senior Citizens Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie Melvin Beck on December 22, 2001; sisters, Lena Koontz Johnson, Edna Koontz Roberson and Julia Lanning Mize; brothers, Palmer, Earl, Clifton and Oliver Koontz.   Surviving are; daughter, Marilynn Beck Young and husband Alvin of Lexington; son, Tim Beck and wife Cathy of Lexington; grandchildren, Jay Young and wife Lisa, Chad Young and wife Lorre, Cara Beck Lagunas and husband Marcelino; great-grandchildren, Jeffery Young and wife Lizzy, Kevin Young and Alex Young.
