Dorcas Ann Tate Prevette, 87, of W. Old US Highway 64, died Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center, following an extended illness.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015, at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Frankie Matthews and Jack Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
Mrs. Prevette was born August 6, 1928, in Davidson County, to Robert Armstead Tate and Effie Lou Trexler Tate. She was retired from Pizza Place. She was a member of Christians Women’s Club, Director of the nursery at her church, and attended Mars Hill College. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Vander Turner Prevette; a daughter, Donna Jean Townsend; brother, Harold Tate; and sister, Helen Tate.
Surviving are sons, Mark Prevette and wife Vickie of Yadkinville, Ted Prevette of Lexington, Rick Prevette and wife Renee of Clemmons, and Paul Prevette and wife Trisha of Winston-Salem; daughters, Peggy Utt and husband Ken of Kenly, Janice Hedrick and husband Kenny and Brenda Forrest and husband Rick, all of Lexington; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
