Doris Tackett Bivens

Doris Tackett Bivens, age 83 of Giles Road, Lexington passed away Tuesday morning (May 25, 2010) at Alston Brook Nursing Home. Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Thursday (May 27, 2010) at Tyro United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and at other times at the home on Giles Road. Mrs. Bivens was born in Guilford County, October 3, 1926 to Felix Tackett and Kate Rice Tackett. She was a member of Tyro United Methodist Church and the Mary Wilson Sunday School class and a homemaker. Preceded in death by her parents, and husband Robert Bivens on April 4, 1991 and a grandson Chris Bivens on July 2, 1994. Surviving are, two daughters, Barbara Benfield and husband Ron of Conyers, GA, Donna Spry and husband Tony of Lexington; two sons, Norman Bivens and wife Marla of Linwood and David Bivens and wife Rickye Ann of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Tammy Lautzenheiser and husband Chuck, Michelle Shirley and husband John, Kim David and husband Richard, Melissa Tush and husband John, Lisa Ashworth and husband Brandon, Amy Benfield, Brittany Bivens, Jessica Spry, Cody Bivens; four great-grandchildren, Alex Shirley, Brandon Lautzenheiser, Stella David and Jackson Benfield; one sister, Elsie Hinson of High Point; two step sons; several step grandchildren.
