Doris Sowers Davis

Doris Sowers Davis age 80 of Welcome passed away on Saturday February 26, 2011 at Hinkle Hospice House with family by her side. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday March 1, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Welcome with Rev. Mark Blair. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday February 28, 2011 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel; other times at the home. Doris was born February 14, 1931 in Davidson County to Conard Ray Sowers and Precious Jenkins Sowers. She retired from Western Electric after many years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her loving husband of 60 years, Joe Dean Davis of the home; her daughter, Diane Davis Carrick (Craig) of Welcome; her brothers, Marion Sowers (Annie) and Tommy Sowers (Rose Mary) all of Reedy Creek; her sisters, Jean Mosely of Reedy Creek and Peggy Darr (Carey) of Welcome; her grandchildren, Shannon Carrick Smith (Zack) of Winston Salem and Brad Carrick of Welcome.
