Doris Duffy

June 17, 1930 — August 8, 2019

Doris Lorene Coleman Duffy, age 89, of Lexington passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Alston Brook in Lexington.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Second Reformed United Church of Christ in Lexington with the Rev. Jim Luck officiating. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Duffy was born in Patrick County, VA on June 17, 1930 to William Robert Coleman and Vera Pearl Orander Coleman. She was a retired cloth inspector, having worked for Dacotah Cotton Mills and was a member of Second United Church of Christ. Mrs. Duffy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose memory will be forever cherished. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie “Bill” Dermont Duffey; and her daughter, Wanda Duffey Jones; seven brothers, John H., William, George, John W., Lewis, Connie and Leonard; and one sister, Virginia Hicks.

Surviving are her two sons, Charles Duffey (Jilda) and Robert Duffey (Jo); one son-in-law, Harold Jones; five brothers, Kenneth Jasper Coleman, Thomas Ray Coleman and Ronnie Lee Coleman; three sisters, Charlotte Lightsey, Elizabeth Kluska and Margaret L. Buckner; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Second Reformed United Church of Christ at 330 N. Church Street, Lexington, NC 27292 or to the American Children’s Home at PO Box 1288, Lexington, NC 27293.
