Doris Proctor Fowler

September 23, 1931 — November 29, 2024

Doris Proctor Fowler, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on November 29 at the age of 93. Born on September 23, 1931, Doris lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication to her family, friends, and senior community.

Doris was the mother to 4 children. She instilled in them the importance of compassion, hard work, and resilience. As a mother and grandmother, she was a guiding light, always providing support and encouragement. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and love, where everyone was welcome.

In addition to her role as a mother, Doris worked for Frank Ix and Sons for 50 years. She also had a cosmetology license and operated a “beauty shop” in the basement of the family home on Sunrise Avenue.

Doris enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, playing Pinochle, and spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was a wise advisor, a good listener, and a friend to all who knew her. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Doris Proctor Fowler is survived by three of her four children, Terry Fowler (Virginia), Penny Westmoreland (Jim Cleary), and Chris Fowler (Kathryn); grandchildren Robbie Calloway (Tina), Megan Tinnon (John), Sherra Lackey (Eric), Elizabeth Cooper (Colby), Victoria Fritts (Logan), Jack Westmoreland (Allison), Kyle Westmoreland, Phillip Calloway (Jessica); her sister-in-law Bonnell Proctor, and sister Eddie Joyce Starbuck. She was preceded in death by her first-born son, Gary Calloway, and brother Larry Proctor.

Doris has 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Doris Fowler’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
