Doris Greer Frye, age 88 of Park Street, Lexington passed away Thursday night December 14, 2017 at Alston Brook. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, December 17, 2017 at First Reformed United Church of Christ with Revs. Elizabeth Horton and Mike Hooper officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church parlor from 3:00 until 4:00 PM prior to the service and at other times at the home of son, Marc and Monette Frye. Doris was born in Davidson County August 1, 1929 to William Clifford Greer and Grace Michael Greer. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ; a graduate of Appalachian State University and was a teacher in the Lexington City Schools for 38 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Libby Rohrbaugh and Ruth Miller. Surviving are her sons, Marc Frye and wife Monette of Lexington and Scott Frye and wife Lisa of Winston Salem; grandsons, Chad Frye and wife Catherine of Apex, Charlie Frye of Holly Springs; granddaughters, Charlotte and Katherine Hemby of Winston Salem; sisters, Jane Hill of Roanoke, Virginia and Martha Copeland of Winston Salem.
