Doris Haywood

January 8, 1929 — February 6, 2021

Doris Lee Leonard Haywood, 92, of Lexington went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the WFBH-Lexington Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held in the Reeds Baptist Church Family Life Center at 3 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 with Pastor Henry Watterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Haywood will lie in state from 2 pm until 3 pm prior to the service and the family will greet friends following the graveside service in the cemetery. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, face coverings and social distancing will be required.

Mrs. Haywood was born in Davidson County on January 8, 1929 to George Herman Leonard and Thelma Lee Hill Leonard. She was retired from Abbotts Creek Assisted Living, having worked in housekeeping and was a member of Reeds Baptist Church. Mrs. Haywood was a loving mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Marvin Haywood; and a brother, George H. Leonard.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Sandy Perryman (Larry), Debbie Lineberry (Tommy), John Haywood (Brenda), and Roger Haywood (Doris), all of Lexington; six grandchildren, Charles Perryman (Sarah), Gina Sink (Jeremy), Jennifer Osborne (Chris), Erica Haywood, Kim Borger, and Heather Gilchrest (Barron); eleven great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and five step great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Alston Brook for their compassionate care of Mrs. Haywood.
