Doris Jane Oakley Myers

Doris Jane Oakley Myers, 85, of Lexington Health Care, Lexington died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the nursing home after declining health. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Reeds United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 am Friday at the Church Fellowship Hall, just prior to the service. Mrs. Myers was born July 9, 1926 in Ft Worth, Texas to Matt Oakley and Lula Margaret Wallace Oakley. A homemaker, she was a member of Reeds United Methodist Church. She was a member of Reed’s Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 162. Her husband, Ervin Kenneth Myers preceded her in death, May 29, 2002. Surviving are a son, Ken Myers of Lexington; three daughters, Helen Benton and husband, Bill, Marilyn Stacy and husband, Robert all of Lexington, Kathy Clonts and husband, Jerry of Morehead City; five grandchildren, Michael Herrell, Joy Yost, Kenny Thorne, Christopher Clonts, Lindsay Ross, and five great grandchildren, Alex Yost, Austin Thorne, Adelyn Thorne, Kenna Ross, and Hayden Clonts.
