Mrs. Doris Foster Johnson, age 88, formerly of Swing Dairy Road, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Lexington Health Care after declining health for six years.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Messer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Johnson was born October 14, 1920, in Monroe County, Ga., to Ernest Foster and Mary Darby Foster. She was a member of Pilgrim Freewill Baptist. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivy C. Johnson; and son, Ivy C. Johnson Jr.
Surviving are her sons, J.C. Johnson and wife, Judy, and Harold Johnson and companion, Rita, all of Welcome; daughters, Shirley Hammons and companion, Jack, Linda Irene Myers and husband, Carl, all of Lexington, Mary Williams and husband, Johnny, of Tyro, and Barbara Edwards of Tennessee; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Foster of Tennessee.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
