It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Doris Priscilla Murray of Winston-Salem, NC, who passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at the age of 93.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Parkview Church of God with Rev. Eddie Brewer and Rev. Bobby Dishman officiating. A private burial will be held at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM, prior to the service at the church.
Doris was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was affectionately known as Nana to those closest to her. Doris worked most of her life at Hanes Brands as a seamstress. After retirement, she continued to work for Hanes in some capacity until she was 90 years old, simply because she loved to keep busy.
Doris was a founding and faithful member of Parkview Church of God. There she developed numerous friends that became family. She was so kind to everyone she met and gave of herself so generously.
Doris was preceded in death by her mother, Millisie Victoria Musser McCraw; father, John Harry McCraw; son, Gary Dwight Murray; and two grandsons, Michael Todd Tilley and Chadwick ("Chad") Dwayne Murray.
She is survived by her daughter, Shenelia Murray Cooper; grandchildren, Lori Bowman, Kristan Moser (JT), Tyler Murray, and Kevin Bowman; great grandchildren, Jonathan Murray, Bobby Murray, Samantha Murray, Nevaeh Murray, Lili Murray, Michael Tilley (Amanda), Dillon Tilley (Taylor), Nicolas Tilley, Emily Bowman, and Kaylin Moser; great-great grandchildren, Landon Tilley, Cooper Tilley, Rayson Tilley and Maylee Tilley; and special extended family, Danny and Terri Childress, Drew Childress (Allyson), Hannah Childress, Carol Salmons, and Larry Salmons.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Trellis Supportive Care and to Cadence at Clemmons Assisted Living for the extraordinary care provided to Doris over the last few years.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Trellis Supportive Care and/or Parkview Church of God.
Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is honored to serve the Murray family.
