Doris Priscilla Smith Myers, 84, of Lexington, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Piedmont Crossing.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Pastor Stephen Ashby officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow the service at Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Doris was born on August 9, 1940 in Rowan County, NC to the late Charley Collins and Louise Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Cindy Leigh Archie and Lori Ann Archie, and a sister, Brenda Leigh Gibbs.
Doris spent her career as a switchboard operator at the Thomasville Hospital before retiring from the Davidson County Health Department. She was a faithful member of Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church. In her free time, she loved spending time outside hunting and fishing. She was also very creative and enjoyed crocheting and painting. She especially was fond of painting Santa Clauses, which her family will cherish forever. Most of all, she dearly loved spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 50 years, Donnie Joe Myers; son, Larry “Junior” (Judy) Archie; brother, Charles Collins Jr., four grandchildren, Cindy Easter, Danielle (Branson) Harrison, Aleigha (Mike) Reott, and Adison (Katie) Archie; five great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members who will all miss her dearly.
