Doris Marie Scott Newcomb, 85, of Lexington, passed away August 7, 2022, at her home in Lexington.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she was a member, with Pastor Jennifer Ginn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the sanctuary of the church.
Mrs. Newcomb was born June 26, 1937, in Orange County, to Clyde Paul Scott Sr. and Alma Dunnagan Scott. Doris was a devoted member of the church for many years. She was a homemaker, loved to go dancing and listening to music and riding horses. Her passion was her faith, church, family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doris was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, who will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles M. Brockwell, and her second husband, Freddie A. Williams, daughter, Lorrena Ann Brockwell Gilmore, brothers, Clyde P. Scott Jr, Bobby P. Scott, Sisters, Elizabeth M. Scott, Sally F. Scott Walser, and Betty Jean Hicks-Jones.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Linwood Charles Newcomb of the home, her daughters, Sherri Curry and husband Bobby, Annitta Crook, and Dianne Hull all of Lexington, grandchildren, F. Scott Crook, Amber Hartman husband Jason, Kortnie Floyd and husband Justin, great grandchildren, Althea Crook, Dylan Peek, Gracie Hartman, Cooper Hartman, also surviving are her step son Lee Newcomb and wife Shannon of Fayetteville, step daughter, Carol Temple and husband Tom of Blowing Rock, all so surviving are her step grandchildren, Bradley Curry and wife Whitney, Ginsey Temple, Corwin Temple, T.C. Newcomb, and Sammie Newcomb, step great grandchildren, Kason and Reece Curry.
