Dorothy Bates

Dorothy Berrier Bates, age 80 of Arnold Road, Lexington passed away Tuesday (December 22, 2009) at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday (December 27, 2009 at Arrington Heights Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Doug McGee officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Bates was born in Davidson County, December 31, 1928 to Charlie Berrier and Mae Link Berrier. She was a member of Arrington Heights Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of Dacotah Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Eugene Bates who died in 1981, a daughter, Wanda Horton; four sisters, Ruby Shoaf, Venita Pressley, Elvie Younts and Rachel Cranford; three brothers, Early, John and June Berrier. Surviving are; one daughters, Joyce Graham of Lexington; one son Rickie Gene Bates of Lexington; four grandchildren, Misty Bates, Scott Miller, Lori Miller and Chad Callahan; six Great grandchildren, Andrea Hopkins, Courtney, Adam, Tyler and Conner Miller and Austin Callahan; three brothers, Jake, Alec and Lawrence Berrier all of Lexington. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Saturday night from 6 until 8 pm and at other times at the home on Arnold Road.
