Dorothy Sawyer Batten

Dorothy Sawyer Batten age 81, of Lexington passed away Thursday February 24, 2011 at Hinkle Hospice House. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Batten was born April 12, 1929 in Guilford County to Robert Brooks Sawyer Sr. & Evelyn Williams Sawyer. She retired from AT&T with many years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers; James Williams Sawyer, Francis David Sawyer and her sister; Susan Sawyer Beckerdite. She is survived by her son James Boyd and wife Linda of Winston Salem, her daughter; Evelyn Atkins and husband Eddie of Lexington. Her brothers; Robert Brooks Sawyer Jr. of Mobile, AL and Thomas Edward Sawyer of Houston, TX. Her sisters Anne Sawyer of Lexington and Mary Sawyer Allen of Rural Hall and her 6 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. The family of Mrs. Batten would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Hinkle Hospice House for all the wonderful love & care you gave to mama.
