Dorothy Jean Hardin Byrd

Dorothy Jean Hardin Byrd, 83, of Old Highway 64 East, died Monday, October 22,2012, at Thomasville Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Dickens, Raymond Byrd and James Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at the funeral home and other times at the home. Mrs. Byrd was born November 14, 1928, in Cherokee County, to Herbert Hugh Hardin and Hattie Holland Hardin. She was a self employed hairdresser; attended Coggins Memorial Baptist Church; and was a member of the VFW 3074 Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Jones. Surviving are her loving husband, Menson Ervin Byrd of the home; stepson, Randal Byrd and wife Vonnice of Florida; stepdaughters, Kathy Long of Salisbury and Arietta Blue of Florida; two grandchildren, Stacey Roseberry and wife Christine of Lexington and Mark Roseberry and wife Pamela of Thomasville; 13 step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many step-great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Alvin Hardin and wife Jeanette of Lexington and Stinnet Hardin and wife Dorothy of Andrews.
