Dorothy "Dot" Koontz Bailey

Dorothy “Dot” Koontz Bailey, 82 of Carolina Avenue, Lexington died Monday August 10, 2009 after an illness of 4 months in Lexington Health Care.  A funeral service will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at Fulton United Methodist Church with the Revs. Kirk Tutterow, Bryce Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   Mrs. Bailey was born in Davidson County on October 4, 1926 to Thurman Boyd Koontz and Myrtle Thomas Koontz. She married the late June Barry (J.B.) Bailey, who died in 1974.  She was retired from Dixie Furniture and a member of Fulton United Methodist Church, where she served in the church choir, and also sung in a trio with other family members. She was a member and former Secretary of the United Methodist Women’s, taught the Young Adult Sunday school class and very active in the Bible school program.    Surviving are five daughters, Edna Hendrix and husband Joe, Delilah Burton and husband Walter, both of Advance, Diane Baker and husband Brian, Vickie Bevan and husband Chester and Margaret Keaton all of Lexington. Two sisters Frances Floyd and Verna Lee and one brother, Robert (Bobby) Koontz and wife Mary Jo all of Lexington.  A stepbrother Joe Koontz and 15 grandchildren, Ronnie Hendrix and wife Angie of Advance, Mickie Hendrix and wife Lorna, Tammy Hill and husband Ronnie, and Tanya Parrish all of Lexington, Barry Burton and wife Vanessa of Greensboro, Bobby Burton and wife Bonnie of Troutman, Billy Burton and wife Lee of Arcadia, Danny Burton and wife Susan of Winston-Salem, Jerry Kennedy and wife Brenda of Florida, Annette Roark of Welcome, Sherry DeBusk of Lexington, Timothy Roark of Benson and Roy Bean of Lexington  She has 23 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.   The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Diane Baker, 844 South Happy Hill Road, Lexington.     Online condolences may be made at ww.davidsonfuneralhome.net
