Dorothy Rattz Gurley

Dorothy Rattz Gurley, 94, of Brookside Drive, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at her home after three years of declining health. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lexington City Cemetery by the Rev. Roger Lackey. Mrs. Gurley was born in Rowan County on Jan. 27, 1912, to Gray Rattz and Lizzy Hartman Gurley. She attended Wayside Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, John Furman Gurley; three sisters, Madeline Leonard, Kathline Rattz and Lois Owens; and four brothers, Jake Rattz, Grady Rattz, Clarence Rattz and Bill Rattz. Surviving are one son, Farrell Gurley and his wife, Mary, of Lexington; two grandchildren, Tina Hamilton and her husband, Sean, and Julie Owens and her husband, Jody, all of Lexington; and four great-grandchildren, Colin Hamilton, Megan Hamilton, Lynzy Hamilton and Jakob Owens.
