Dorothy Mae Hairston Hargrave

Dorothy Mae Hairston Hargrave, 89, of the Brian Center, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at the nursing home. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012, at Florida United Missionary Holiness Church, on Linwood Road, where she was a member, with the Rev. Fred Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of her son, Jack, on Jessup Street. Mrs. Hargrave was born May 17, 1922, in Norfolk, Va., to Robert Hairston and Maggie Bernice Wortham Hairston. She was retired from Duracell and had also been employed with the Hood Family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Hargrave; a son, Robert Lewis Hargrave; daughter, Betty Jean Doulin; grandson, Alexander Hairston; brother, Charlie Ellis; and a sister, Viola Cross. Surviving are a son, Leroy “Jack” Lavon Hargrave of Lexington; three great-grandchildren; a niece, Barbara Bernard.
