Dorothy Everhart Haywood, 94, of South NC Highway 150, died Tuesday, November 08, 2016, at her home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Reeds Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Henry Watterson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Mrs. Haywood was born October 11, 1922, in Davidson County, to Henry Everhart and Pearl Beck Everhart. She was manager for West Davidson Cafeteria until her retirement. She was a dedicated and loyal member of Reeds Baptist Church for as long as her health permitted. She was an avid walker at her church. Dot was recognized by her church family for walking 6 miles in one day at the age of 84. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for over 15 years. She was also known for making her homemade yeast rolls and delivering them to shut ins. She loved to read and play rummikub. Her husband, Roy Haywood Sr. whom she was married to for 49 years preceded her in death on November 2, 1995. Also preceding her in death are brothers, Lewis Everhart, Aaron Everhart; and sister, Marilyn Call. Surviving are her children, Susie Ellenburg (Philip), Janie DeFelice (Lenny), and Franklin Haywood (Lynne); grandchildren, Brian Ellenburg (Nancy), Dawn Thompson (Michael), Scott Ellenburg (Nicki), and Shane Haywood (Megan); great-grandchildren, Nicole Lanning (Justin), Jessie Stutts, Kayla Stutts, Emilie Stutts, Camden Ellenburg, Slade Ellenburg, Camdyn Haywood; step-great-grandchildren, Travis and Blake Hinson; ; great-great-grandchildren, Bayden Lanning, Benson Lanning; step-great-great-grandchildren, Lexi and Levi Hinson brothers, Joe Everhart (Ruth), Blake Everhart, Philip Everhart (Topsy), and Beck Everhart; sister, Rachel Cooper; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Everhart and Doris Haywood. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, sister, Rachel Cooper and Norene Everhart.
