Dorothy “Dot” Trexler Kesler, age 91 of Boones Cave Road, Lexington passed away at her home Tuesday morning (3-3-09).
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Spruce Street Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Terry Coates officiating. Burial will follow in the Kesler family cemetery in Churchland.
Mrs. Kesler was born in Davidson County on November 15, 1917, to Willie Kola Trexler and Annie Lee Hedrick Trexler. She was retired from Coble Dairy after serving for 30 years. Her ministry in music spanned 75 years serving various churches in the area which included 41 years as pianist at her own church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three brothers, and four sisters.
Surviving are her husband, of 71 years, James “Jack” Kesler of the home; son, William James Kesler and wife, Barbara, of Lexington; grandchildren, Tim and Linda Kesler and Tim and Donna Edwards; step-grandchildren, Tanya Baka, Steven Gaither, and Mike Gaither; great-grandchildren, Bradley Kesler, Bryan Kesler, Kendra Turboville, Chris Edwards, and Nick Edwards; step-great-grandchildren, Christopher Baka and Ryan Baka; a brother, Zack Trexler; and three sisters, Eugenia T. Kayser, Aline Lyon, and Lucy Haynes of Tega Cay, S.C..
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
