Dorothy Koonts

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Gates Koonts, 84, of Workman Road, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Franks officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, September 30, 2011 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her son on Easter Road, Lexington. Mrs. Koonts was born April 9, 1927 in Patrick County, VA to Mr. & Mrs. Tyler Michael Gates. She was a retired CNA with Lexington Memorial Hospital and a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marion J. Koonts on July 26, 1996, a daughter-in-law, Roberta Koonts, a sister, Pearl Berrier and a half-sister, Alphie. Surviving are two sons, Donnie , Dale and wife, Sylvia both of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Robert and wife, Serena, Joseph and wife, Dawn, Roger Dale, Phillip, Jennifer, Steven, Monica and husband, Spencer; seven great grandchildren, Courtney Waddell and husband, Mykel , Candace Tripp, Nathan Tripp, Monroe Craver, Sierra Koonts, Aidan Koonts, and Gavin Koonts Memorials may be directed to Victory Baptist Church, 2490 NC Hwy 47, Lexington, NC 27292
