Dorothy Vernell King Lane, 83, of Cedar Drive, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the Brian Center Nursing Home in Lexington.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Clyde Akers. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lane was born Dec. 18, 1922, in Guilford County to William King and Mary Ann Hill King. She was a homemaker and a member of Freedom Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arie Lee Lane, who died in September 1981; and her sisters, Lucille Dore and Geneva Wall.
Surviving are her son, Robert "Bobby" Ashby and his wife, Bonnie, of Lexington; two daughters, Dorothy Love and her husband, Robert, and Betty Bruff and her husband, Lewis "Buddy," all of Lexington; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William and Alvin King, both of Greensboro; and three sisters, Mary L. Stevens of Greensboro, Wilma Farmer of Reidsville and Ruby Ingram of High Point
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home of the son on Cedar Drive.
