Dorothy Ray Swicegood Mize, 85, of Yadkin College Road, Lexington died Friday, December 3, 2010, at the Oaks of Thomasville after declining health.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, December 6, 2010 at Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Sheila Bishop and Charlie Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will see friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Mize was born April 27, 1925, in Davidson County, to Ray Swicegood and Effie Walser Swicegood. She retired from Dixie Furniture and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Walser Mize on June 22, 2005; two brothers, Vern and Mock Swicegood, and her sister, Melrose Forrest.
Surviving are her son, Joel Ray Mize and wife, Laura, of Wallburg; her grandchildren, Rachel Scott of Greensboro, and Valerie Schultz of Chapel Hill; and her sisters, Maxine Callahan and Virginia Reich, both of Lexington, and Betty Sowers of Pulaski, VA.
