Dorothy M. Tysinger, age 85 of Abbotts Creek Care, formerly of Black Dairy Road, Lexington passed away Sunday (March 21, 2010) at Abbotts Creek Care Center after an illness of six months. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday (March 24, 2010) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Joe D. Coltrane officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the funeral home and other times at the home of the daughter on Bentcreek Dr., Lexington.
Mrs. Tysinger was born in Davidson County September 30, 1924 to Lee Curnel Morris and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Sink Morris. She was educated in the Lexington City Schools and was a former employee of Mallory Battery and Lexington Furniture. She retired from Stylemart.
She was a lifelong member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ and a member of the Pearle Peeler Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Grady Eli Tysinger who died December 23, 2006, brothers, Calvin, Vernon and Willie Morris, sisters, Florence McLeod, Lucille Swing and Zella Mae Burkhart.
Surviving are her daughter, Karen Holder and husband, Terry of Lexington; three grandchildren, Nicholas Holder and wife, Krista, Jennifer Martin and husband, Kenneth all of Lexington, and Summer Holder of Winston-Salem; five great grandchildren, Hunter and Miranda Helms, Jordan Martin, Ella Holder and Brittney Sumner all of Lexington; two sisters, Caroline Tysinger and husband, Rayvon, JoAnn Allred of Lexington; two brothers, Larry Morris and wife, Jan of Thomasville, and Edmond Bryce Morris and wife, Jan of Homa, Louisiana; sister-in-laws, Ann Morris, Edna Morris and Pearlie Mae Tysinger all of Lexington; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Abbott’s Creek Care and Rehabilitation for the loving care they gave her while there. The management, the nurses and CNA’s treated her like their parent. We could not have asked for anymore.
