Dorothy Barker Overcash

Dorothy Barker Overcash, age 83 of Star Drive, Lexington passed away Wednesday morning February 3, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church at 210 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington with Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the Sanctuary of the church from 12:30 until 2:00 pm prior to the service. Dorothy was born in Davidson County March 2, 1932 to Charles Winberg Barker and Bessie Paige Barker. She was a retired employee of Duracell with 23 years of service; a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, J. Clifford Overcash; sisters, Geneva Lanning, Kate Christopher, Dixie Thomason and Helen Jarrell; brothers, Charles, Jr. and Franklin Barker. Surviving are her daughter, Jan Overcash Cline (Kenneth) of Lexington; grandson, Steven Watkins (Jill); great-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Nicolas and Daniel Watkins; sisters, Barbara Weaver and Virginia Passmore of Lexington and Nancy Caughron of Trinity. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center for the tender and loving care given to her.
