Dorothy Dockery Panter

Dorothy Dockery Panter, age 84 of Lexington passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 18, 2020 at Beacon Place in Greensboro.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with family giving the Eulogy. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Dorothy was born May 21, 1935 in Cherokee County to Deverow Dockery and Lillie Mae Weaver Panter. She was a retired employee of Edgewood Apparel and later worked for K & W as a Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 68 years James Ernest Panter; son, Alan Panter; sisters, Bennie Lee Dockery, Geraldine Dune and a brother, Bill Painter.

Surviving are her daughters, Joann Garrison (Dan) of Lexington and Wanda Hobbs of Greensboro; son, J. Roy Panter (Cynthia) of Colorado; grandchildren, James Roy Panter, Jr., Garrett Keith Hobbs, Jennifer Panter Allen, Ryan Panter, Justin Lloyd Panter, Kyle Panter and Heather Rena Garrison; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Hicks and Shirley Maples of Tennessee, and Frances Dalton of Florida; a brother, Paul Panter of Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC  28215.
