Dorothy Virginia Brown Stallings, 84, formerly of Forest Drive, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living Center.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2012, at Forest Hill Memorial Park with the Dr. Ken Bradstock, Chaplain of Hospice and Palliative Care Center, officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. Stallings was born October 30, 1928, in Hart County, Ga., to Albert Hardy Brown and Lizzie Mae Vickery Brown. She and her husband owned Country Club Cleaners and she was a member of the Lexington Church of Christ. Mrs. Stallings also worked at the Davidson County Life Center and enjoyed serving as a volunteer for the Contact Crisis Line. She helped organize the Davidson County Alzheimer’s Support Group. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Stallings; son, Roger Brown Stallings; brother, Harris Brown, and sister, Betty Pinson.
A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Stallings is survived by her daughter, Betty Stallings White Mabe and her husband, Jeffrey, of Lexington; grandchildren, Caroline White Foster and husband David, of Durham; Jacob Ward White of Greensboro, and Elizabeth Ellen White of Washington, D. C. and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to Almaroof Agaro, Ashley Wright, Stephanie Bryant, Taylor Foltz and the staff of Mallard Ridge and to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center staff for their loving care of Mrs. Stallings.
